"And teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ." - Colossians 1:28
The life of faith is a journey that encompasses our intellect, our souls, our relationships, and our experiences. All of us are on this journey and are continually being formed in our faith. The Christian's development is not complete once one has finished Sunday School or has been confirmed. As we encounter our faith and engage God's mission in the world - and our purpose in this mission -- God invites us to go deeper and grow in the understanding of our faith. We are being invited to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and what it means to follow him as Lord and Savior. Therefore, we offer a variety of opportunities for all people at St. Luke's to participate in the process of being formed in their faith - a lifelong journey of Christian formation.
Indeed, continual Christian education is a great hallmark of our Anglican tradition. All Christians - not just the clergy and professional scholars - are called to participate in studying the Bible and theology ("faith seeking understanding"). As Anglicans, we approach our study of the Christian faith through the "three-legged stool" of Scripture, Reason, and Tradition. The Episcopal Church does not require subscribe to a doctrine of blind faith or literal interpretation of the Bible but, rather, encourages serious engagement in a life-long process of being formed in the faith through prayer, study, and experience.
Our Christian formation programs at St. Luke's welcome the questions that people bring as we engage in exploring our faith together! Being true to our Anglican tradition, Christian education at St. Luke's is the process through which people of faith engage in study, conversation, and prayer about Christianity, the Episcopal Church, global Anglican Communion, and how the Church and all the baptized people of God engage God's mission in the world. We offer a variety of inspired and high quality programs, for all ages, to more deeply engage our lives in relationship to Jesus Christ, one another, and the world.
